I stumbled across this really nice downtempo, dubby electro track by Move D called "A [Workshop 13]". There's a delightful video to go with it about a cupcake who tries to sail away but gets marooned on an island... quite beautiful (you have to give yourself a bit of a nudge when you realise you're getting emotional about a cupcake). The video was put together by 29NovFilms who seem to be doing some pretty experimental stuff with visuals. Check them out here.

Radio #1: Cassette Culture on Burn FM

Yes you heard right! - Cassette Culture is going out live on Birmingham University student radio - BurnFM!

The show airs at 8pm (GMT) every Thursday on BurnFM via an Internet stream you can access here (click "listen live" in the top right corner of the screen). Fingers crossed I will also have a recorded version the following day which I will post up on here.

I'm looking for people to send in mixtapes (about half an hour long) to play in the second half of the show. If you like the sort of stuff I play then send mixes into - cassetteculture @ gmail.com. Keep 'em under 30 mins.

I'm pretty excited about the show and it would be great to have your feedback. Hope to have you listening!

I've knocked together another tape for you. This one is called Calypso and is basically a load of songs that have steel drums in them. There are some dangerously good remixes in there which massively drive things up (e.g. Rex the Dogs edits of Triangle Walks just hits the roof). And there are some originals too, Round Table Knight's Calypso and Xinobi's Hawaii stand on their own.

Such a shame that this track is not being released because it would wake up some dance floors. Still I thought I would post because this is just testimony to the brilliance of Russ Chimes. He really corks up Booka Shade's regenerate till it blows up big time - one of my favourite remixes of 2010.

They'll be plenty more Chimes on here in the future I imagine but its well worth checking out some of his originals - e.g. Midnight Club EP, remixes and Expressway mixtapes - see Russ's Soundcloud for more info.
